My main shut off valve was experiencing a slow drip due to its age (almost 40 year old house). First, John was very prompt in providing me with a quote. When I decided to go with Dima Plumbing, John told me how I needed to co-ordinate with the city for the water shut off and told me the day he was available. On the day of the installation the city inspector was delayed all morning. Once he arrived, I texted John and he quickly made his way down within 30 minutes. He asked the inspector to stay while he installed a new ball main shutoff valve. John was done within 15 minutes thus saving me the cost of turning the water back on later in the day. Watching John work, I could tell he had a lot of experience and knew his stuff. Overall, he was very pleasant to deal with and I recommend him to anyone requiring plumbing services. My parents had a kitchen sink that was clogged. Turns out there was a clog at the main stack. Both John and Andre came by to fix the situation. John came by with a snake tool but because it was the main stack it wasn’t big enough, so Andre had to come with a bigger snake tool to eventually clear the clog. Highly recommend them as they answered promptly and were available the next day. They were very friendly and upfront with the costs and were very efficient. I contacted Dima Plumbing, because my water mains shut-off valve was leaking. After requesting pictures to check the pipe size, they quoted me a price for parts and labour with warranty. This was a set job price, which made me very comfortable, because there were no hidden costs. I dealt with Andrei, who explained that I needed to get the city to shut off the water from outside and then call him to do the job (This prevented me from paying any wait fees and made sure the city could actually shut off the water.).
Andrei arrived on time and was very efficient at his job. In addition, he went through the procedures I need to do when closing and opening the shut-off valve, as well as checking my outdoor hose valve had been closed properly for the winter. He answered any question I had with patience and quality information.

How do I know if the sump pump is working?

There is no fixed lifetime for sump motors because it mainly depends on your usage.
You may have to replace it once every five years if you use it often. On the other hand, your pump can last at least 7-10 years if you barely operate it.
How does the pumping process work?
The pump starts once water enters the pit, and rises to reach and activate the pump’s float switch. This switch is usually positioned at well above its surface, at a specific height in the pit. It’s positioned at this height to pump out water only at the right time, and prevent potential flooding.

Can I repair my sump pump?
While it may be possible to repair it in rare cases, it is better to have a faulty pump replaced. The time and money spent for repairs won’t be worth it because the repaired pump won’t pump out water as well as it should.
